Songs for Taiki Kou
The Sound of Silence
Simon and Garfunkle | submitted by me, Kotetsu | Lyrics
"Hello darkness, my old friend / I've come to talk with you again." This moving, moody song fits anime Taiki quite nicely. It took me a while to chew over the deeper meaning of this song, but I think that I kind of understand it now. The narrator, plagued by self-doubt and depression, views the rest of humanity as "fools." And Taiki also doesn't seem to have a very high opinion of the people in Earth. But then again, Taiki never made any real effort to reach out to the people of Earth, unlike the narrator of this song.

Don McLean | submitted by Akaiko | Original Lyrics | Modified Lyrics by Akaiko
"This song is very poetic in the way the lyrics are written.
But the main reason it reminds me of Taiki, is it it is similar in some parts to her Poem; starting to understand what Usagi was saying."
Gone
Madonna | submitted by Megami | Lyrics
"At first I thought this song
described the Starlights' motto (and it does), but after watching the episode, I
realized it more so describes the lesson Taiki learned from Seiya and Yaten in
episode 185: not to lose faith."
Sexy Eyes
Whigfield | submitted by Taiki Obsession | Lyrics
"You can't tell me that this song doesn't apply to Taiki. No other SM character has eyes as sexy as she does. *^.^* I always loved this song, but I hadn't heard it in years, since before I even knew what Sailor Moon was. Then it came on the radio just today and my first thought was 'TAIKI!'. Am I obsessed?"
Latin Simone
Gorillaz | submitted by Aika Bunny | Lyrics
"The song itself has a rather cynical Taiki-ish feel. The lyrics don't really make too much sense, but that gives it more of a poetic feel."
I Am a Rock
Simon and Garfunkel | submitted by AngelAnne | Lyrics
"There is not a more perfect Taiki song in existence;
for her anime personality, anyway. 'Hiding in my
room/safe within my womb/I touch no one and no one
touches me.' This song doesn't quite fit at the end of
the season, but when we first meet Taiki and then
Maker, it fits her peronality very well."
Join Me in Death, In Joy and Sorrow, and
Salt in Our Wounds
HIM | submitted by SuperSailorMoon
Join Me in Death | In Joy and Sorrow | Salt in Our Wounds
"I think Taiki would be quite fond of HIM (a gothic pop band), because they
always sing of how miserable love ends, or how lovers die... I really think he would like it ^^."
Earth Song
Michael Jackson | submitted by SuperSailorMoon | Lyrics
"It's about everything that's destroyed and so on."
Elsewhere
Sarah McLachlan | submitted by Moon Venus-chan | Lyrics
"To me, this song explain a lot about Taiki, like when he starts to do one of his hard thinkings, and always wants to be in silence."
Honestly OK
Dido | submitted by Moon Venus-chan | Lyrics
"It just fits."
I am a Man of Constant Sorrow
Soggy Bottom Boys | submitted by Uindo Seirei | Lyrics
"This song is hysterical, but it's so... Taiki. The title made me think of Taiki, and the song itself... don't ask, but I could picture Taiki singing this. How odd. ^^ Plus, you can replace Kentucky with Kinmoku!"
Brian Wilson
Barenaked Ladies | submitted by Lita-chan | Lyrics
"This one clicked for Taiki (in my head, anyway) when I thought of episode 185. Taiki's feeling low--he's starting to wonder if this singing business will *ever* help them find Kakyuu, and his inspiration, because of this, is running really low. In other words, he's getting jaded. That's what this song is all about, to a point. But, like Brian Wilson and countless others have, Taiki snaps out of that funk and feels the presence of his muse (Kakyuu) again."
By Myself
Linkin Park | submitted by Solange | Lyrics
" 'Do I hide my pride away from these bad dreams and/Give in to sad thoughts that are maddening?' Now come on, is that Taiki or what? The song is deafeningly loud and true rock music, very unlike the Three Lights; but for some reason, I can see Taiki screaming lyrics such as 'Sunlight burns the skin of sleeping men/I make the right turns but I'm lost within/I put on my daily façade but then/I just end up getting hurt again.' Is that not poetic? Is Taiki not the deepest one of the three, the one who is known for his poetry? That's what I thought. Also, consider this part of the song: 'By myself [myself]/I ask why, but in my mind I find/I can't rely on myself [myself]/I ask why, but in my mind I find/I can't rely on myself/I can't hold on to what I want when I'm stretched so thin/It's all too much to take in/I can't hold on to anything/Watching everything spin/With thoughts of failure sinking in.' After all, he does feel alone, hence the 'by myself.' And then, when it says 'It's all too much to take in/I can't hold on to anything' it speaks to me of Taiki-kun's shock at seeing his home destroyed, and also how he is trying to accept it but it's too much for him. Finally, take into consideration these last snippets: 'How do you think I've lost so much?/I'm so afraid that I'm out of touch/How do you expect I will know what to do/When all I know is what you tell me to?' Those lyrics were what inspired me to send this in. Doesn't it sound like it was written for or by Taiki? He has 'lost so much.' He is afraid that he is forever out of touch with Princess Kakyuu. The last two lines require some explanation as to why I chose them as significant to my beloved Taiki. ^^ All his life he has been dependant on his princess. His life revolved around her will. Without her, he would have wandered around aimlessly, not knowing what to do. Now he is expected to save the galaxy, find Kakyuu, and live up to his status as an idol without the princess's guidance, hence the 'How do you expect I will know what to do/When all I know is what you tell me to?' "
Affirmation
Savage Garden | submitted by Sharla | Lyrics
"It just does (remind me of Taiki). Because of how it is
written, I guess."
Bara wa Bara wa... (Roses, Roses)
Laraine | submitted by Michi | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"It's more the lyrics that
do me, not necesarrily the beat. The line bara wa bara utsukushiku chiru or
roses, roses, they're falling beautifully makes me thing of Taiki. It's really
something she would write."
