Songs for Seiya Kou
I Want You to Want Me
As performed by Letters to Cleo | Original submission by me, Kotetsu | Lyrics
This song is PERFECT for Seiya in the manga! It's upbeat and energetic, and the vocals by Kay Hanley are very emotional. I really haven't decided if Seiya would be singing this to Kakyuu or Usagi, or maybe both.
Largo al Factotum
From Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) | Lyrics (bilingual)
Perfect for anime Seiya! Er, that is . . . if Seiya were a barber who sang opera in Italian. But seriously, this song really captures anime Seiya's personality. Figaro is the barber in question who sings this song, which is really a proclamation of how wonderful, lucky, and just plain sexy he is. ^_^ It's loud, boisterous, peppy, and very addictive. In fact, this is one of my all-time favorite arias.
Always
Bon Jovi | Original submission by me, Kotetsu | Lyrics
Once again, who is Seiya singing this to, Kakyuu or Usagi? You decide.
Manda added this commentary: "I think it more applies to Usagi... The lyrics just seem alittle different... especially this part. 'When he holds you close, when he pulls
you near/When he says the words you've been needing to hear/I wish I was him,
'cos those words are mine/To say to you 'til the end of time...' I just
think it sounds like she's talking about Mamoru..."
Impressive Instant
Madonna | submitted by Megami | Lyrics
"This song reminds me of when Seiya first appeared in the
anime. I think the lyrics describe what he was feeling at the exact moment he
passed Usagi at the airport."
She's So High
Tal Bachman | submitted by Sarah Wigner | Lyrics
"As I sat there
listening to (the song), it made me think about Seiya and Usagi's relationship. In
the song 'She's so high above me' the lyrics say that 'I know where I belong
and nothing's going to happen'. At the end of Stars, Seiya realizes that he
will never be able to be together with Usagi, for one, she's got Mamoru, two,
in the manga Seiya mentions that they are of different stations in the
universe; I take this to be Seiya saying that she, being a mere senshi, could
never be with a princes, let alone the one who is saving the universe."
Selfish
N'Sync | submitted by Koneko-chan | Lyrics
"Well it explains sorta the way Usagi was, and how she sorts ( with out knowing) wrapped Seiya in her love. It talks about even though you think im just being rude, the guy just want to tell the girl he loves her and that it may seem selfish (aka lights think that choosing Usagi over Kakyuu is for his own reasons) he really is in love...^.^ "
Don't Do Me Like That
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers | submitted by Lita-chan | Lyrics
"I don't think Usagi is leading him on or purposely hurting him, but the tone of the song really reminds me of Seiya, and his heartbreak over the girl he can't have. "
Something About Us
Daft Punk | submitted by Kristina | Lyrics
"It's the perfect song from him to Usagi..."
Mr. Wonderful
Smile.DK (from Dance Dance Revolution) | submitted by Menagi-chan | Lyrics
"That is Seiya's theme song all day, baby... It's done to a deco-dance beat. I love it.. tee hee!!"
Be Like That
Three Doors Down | submitted by Sailor Starlight-chan | Lyrics
"I dont know why, but whenever I hear that song, I can't help but to think about Seiya."
The Ghost of You and Me
BBMak | submitted by Sailor Stardreamer | Lyrics
"It has that kinda sad thing where guy wants girl and really loves her
but either the girl ignores him or the girl is unavalible... ;_; so sad! Actually it
sounds more like a love affair so maybe it could be that Seiya feels like he's
cheating on Kakyuu-hime?"
You're a God
Vertical Horizon | submitted by Sailor Stardreamer | Lyrics
"It's about Seiya and Usagi. You know how Seiya and co. are in disguise and they have to lie about their identities..."
Crazy for This Girl
Evan and Jaron | submitted by Sailor Stardreamer | Lyrics
"It's another Seiya/Usagi song. 'She was the one to hold me, the night the sky fell down..." Perfect, ne? The connections are everywhere..."
Getting Away With It
Electronic | submitted by Abbie-chan | Lyrics
"This is the perfect song for Seiya because of the chorus: 'However I look it's clear to see/That I love you more than you love me/However I look it's clear to see/I love you more than you love me.' This is perfect for Seiya and Usagi."
Sie Sieht Mich Nicht (She Doesn't See Me)
Xavier Naidoo | submitted by SuperSailorMoon | German Lyrics | English Lyrics
"(This is) a song about a one-sided love. This is a song Seiya could sing for
Kakyuu, because there is a line, 'Ihre Königlichkeit ist nur einen König wert,
und ich bin wenig königlich' which means 'Her royalness is just fit for a
king, and I´m not king enough.' "
Super Trooper
ABBA | submitted by SuperSailorMoon | Lyrics
"Don´t ask, it just came into my mind ^^."
One More Time
Terry Taylor | submitted by Kelli | Lyrics
"The song reminds me of Seiya/Kakyuu. It has to do with the loss of someone dear, because of death. Despite that, whenever I hear this song I think of Seiya and what she must have felt after Kakyuu's disappearance. In my opinion, the lyrics are synonymous! 'I thought that I saw your face in the crowd, but that couldn't be, 'Cos you walk beyond the stars.' Sadly, Kakyuu does die in both the anime and manga so even the death aspect of the song isn't too far off."
You Remind Me
Usher | submitted by Mari | Lyrics
"I hate this song, but when I hear it, I think of Seiya ^^ 'You remind me of a
girl that I once knew / See her face whenever I look at you...' It reminds me of how Seiya always thought of Kakyuu when he was around Usagi, vice versa, and how in the manga
she mentioned, 'She reminds me of her...' "
Eyes on Me
Faye Wong and Koji Haijima | submitted by Moon Venus-chan | Lyrics
"This doesn't matter if it's in Seiya's or Usagi's point of view (though it might be Usagi because at the end it says 'dress'). It just fits this section!"
Here With Me and Take My Hand
Dido | submitted by Moon Venus-chan | Here With Me | Take My Hand
"Both songs remind me when Seiya is thinking about Kakyuu or Usagi."
Cherish
David Cassidy | submitted by Sarah Wigner | Lyrics
"The guy in the song is
talking about how he uses the word cherish when he thinks about his love for
this girl. He also knows that he will never be able to be the one to be a part
of her dreams. Its a bitter-sweet song, and perfect for Seiya."
Glorious Days
Weezer | submitted by Usa-kusa | Lyrics
"This one reminds me of all three but especially Seiya. It talks about taking chances and making a move, which reminds me of their search for the Princess. And the part 'Nevermind the past/Livin' for today' kinda reminds me of their planet and trying not to get stuck in the past. In the chorus, 'Fight, Fight' (this is kinda self-explanatory). Add last (but there is more, you got hear it/find it for yourself!) 'Gonna hit the ground with a brand new sound' and 'Gonna do it right standing in the light Facing all these crowd' connects to being idol singers and trying to reach the Princess through their music and their fans."
Only in Dreams
Weezer | submitted by Usa-kusa | Lyrics
"This one reminds me of Seiya and Kakyuu, and Seiya and Usagi. In part Usagi because the lyrics about 'You(Seiya) walk up to her(Usagi) Ask her to dance She says "hey, baby I just might take the chance".' This metaphorically connects to the romance that they have. The rest reminds me of Kakyuu. 'She's in the air' = The unmistakable sent of the Princess. In this verse, 'Only in dreams / We see what it means / Reach out our hands / Hold on to hers / But when we wake / It's all been erased / And so it seems / Only in dreams.' I see Seiya having a nightmare about the destruction of their planet, reaching to save Kakyuu, but she cannot."
Love Hurts
Nazareth | submitted by Lita-chan | Lyrics
"I wouldn't say that Seiya thinks 'love is just a lie made to make you blue,' because I think Seiya believes in love, like all the Sailor Senshi do. But there's no denying that love has caused Seiya a lot of pain--whether it be her unrequited love for Usagi, or her (as far as we know) unfulfilled love for Kakyuu. Seiya's usually cheery about her situation, bad as it sometimes is, but I think when she's down or depressed, this song fits her perfectly."
We are the Champions
Queen | submitted by LMU | Lyrics
"This song reminds me so much of Seiya. As he stated in the anime, he never
gives up, or as Yaten and Taiki like to put it, 'He hates to lose.' "
Centerfold
J. Geils Band | submitted by LMU | Lyrics
"If this isn't Seiya singing about Usagi, then who else could it be!?"
You're So Vain
Carly Simon | submitted by Rainbow | Lyrics
"This song pretty much defines Seiya's attitude in the first part of Stars.
He/she is surprised that Usagi doesn't think he/she is cool, and he/she has
all of the other girls hanging all over him/her. The person described in the
song is arrogant just like Seiya, and the romance described sounds like Seiya
and Usagi in the 'Doki Doki Date' episode. I could see Usagi singing this to
Seiya, actually!"
Just a Friend
Mario | submitted by Solange | Lyrics
"Just read the lyrics and you'll know why I can see Seiya singing this to Usagi. It fits really well at the end of Sailor Stars, when Usagi replies to Seiya's 'I'll never forget you, Odango.' She says, 'I'll never forget you. We'll be friends forever!' (Ugh.........way to screw up the moment, Usagi!) Also, it fits because of Seiya's slightly stuck-up personality: 'Can you give me one reason why/You wouldn't want this kind of guy/'Cause I stay hip, I stay laced/And I know you know I'm fly.' Doesn't that just SCREAM Seiya?? But, anyway, it fits after the end part because Usagi says 'friends' and not anything more."
That's the Girl I've Been Telling You About
Blessed Union of Souls | submitted by Oliver Nix | Lyrics
"I think that this song really describes Seiya throughout the Stars season. The glance at the airport catching his interest, how he beat himself up inside because he had to keep things from her, how he'd just instantly believe her, all those times the Three Lights were shown discussing Usagi/Sailor Moon, how he asked her out and she says no, and like it says in the song, 'but that don't mean I gotta listen'. If you read it, you'll probably see what I mean."
Chained to You
Savage Garden | submitted by Sharla | Lyrics
"In the chorus it says 'I feel the magic all
around you/and it's bringing me to my knees/like I wanna be/and I gotta be
chained to you.' It's just so very... Seiya/Usagi romance..."
I Knew I Loved You
Savage Garden | submitted by Sharla | Lyrics
"Well, supposedly, Starfighter was in love with Kakyuu... So if Usagi reminds him of Kakyuu, then he would've already
loved her? I really dunno..."
Gunning Down Romance
Savage Garden | submitted by Sharla | Lyrics
"It just sounds like Seiya/Usagi... It really does, to me at least."
Angel
Madonna | submitted by Silver Moon | Lyrics
"This song reminds me of
Seiya because it reminds me of Seiya when he first laid eyes on Usagi and
when he is with her."
Want You, Miss You, Love You
Jon Secada | submitted by Silver Moon | Lyrics
"I don't know why but if you listen to the song and read the lyrics
you should understand why I picked this song about Seiya. It kind of
reminds me of what is going on in his head when he wants to be with Usagi.
This song is from the Dance With Me soundtrack."
Heaven's What I Feel
Gloria Estefan | submitted by Silver Moon | Lyrics
"Whenever I listen to the song, it reminds me of Sailor Stars episode
181 - Seiya to Usagi no Doki Doki Date, when Seiya and Usagi are dancing
together at the disco place, and all the other episodes when they are
together. This song is also from the Dance With Me soundtrack."
You Don't Know Me
Jann Arden | submitted by Silver Moon | Lyrics
"I can't think of any reasons. I just reminds me of Seiya when he
wants to be with Usagi. I got this song from the My Best Friend's Wedding
soundtrack."
I Will Always Love You
Whitney Houston | submitted by Silver Moon | Lyrics
"I love this song. It sooo reminds of Seiya when he is leaving at
the end of episode #200. This song came from The Bodyguard soundtrack."
Amame (Love Me)
Selena | submitted by Silver Moon | Lyrics (bilingual)
"It is such a lovely and very sad song and it matches Seiya's
feelings perfectly."
Beautiful Stranger
Madonna | submitted by Abigail | Lyrics
"This song just reminds of the way Seiya might have fallen in love
with Usagi, right down to 'I've paid for you with tears/And swallowed
all my pride.' 'Haven't we met?' reminds me of the meeting in the
airport, and could go along with the way Usagi reminded Seiya of
Kakyuu. 'If I'm smart then I'll run away/but I'm not so I guess I'll
stay' - no, I'm not saying Seiya's stupid, but she tends to act on her
emotions more than her intelligence most of the time. Plus isn't the
line 'To know you is to love you' a perfect description of Usagi??"
Beautiful Fighter
Onitsuka Chihiro | submitted by Abigail | Lyrics (untranslated)
"Simply the title, and... I really don't know. It just reminds me
of Fighter every time I hear this song. It could really fit all three
Lights."
I Saw Her Again Last Night
The Mamas and the Papas | submitted by Rainbow | Lyrics
"I have a song I think reminds me of Seiya, more
specifically, Seiya and Usagi. Interestingly enough, I think this song's lyrics work for Usagi singing
to Seiya, if Seiya is a girl here. 'She thinks that I love her.' Seiya
thinks Usagi loves her, and is mistaken--Usagi loves Mamoru. It also
sounds like how Usagi almost strings Seiya along, being friendly and
sweet to her; Seiya takes this as love, when it really is just
friendship. 'Every time I see that girl, you know I wanna lay down and
die; but I really really need that girl...' This sounds like how things
that happen to Seiya and being told to stay away from her by Haruka and
the other Starlights hurts Usagi. Usagi also needs Seiya to keep her
happy while Mamoru is gone. 'But what can I do, I'm lonely too, and it
makes me feel so good to know you'll never leave me.' As I said, Usagi
is lonely, and she's almost using Seiya as a substitute for Mamoru, who
is gone."
#1 Crush
Garbage | submitted by Argy | Lyrics
"This song reminds me of Seiya because it says all that Seiya would do to get Usagi's
love (I will cry for you / I will cry for you / I will wash away your pain with all
my tears / And drown your fear)."
If Only You Knew
Maroon 5 | submitted by Argy | Lyrics
"This song reminds me of Seiya because it reflects all that he went through to get
closer to Usagi, even if she just doesn't get it."
The Sweetest Goodbye
Maroon 5 | submitted by Argy | Lyrics
"Just read the lyrics and you'll see why this song is SO Seiya."
After the Lights
Sweetbox | submitted by Michi | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"It's more of and AU
thought. But, I could see Seiya and Usagi meeting backstage after one of the Three
Lights concerts and just hitting it off. I can see it. It's very Seiya/Usagi."
All the Things She Said
t.A.T.u | submitted by Seiyalover | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"It reminds me of seiya and how he can't forget about Usagi. They should be together."
Nothing to Say
Jethro Tull | submitted by Zachary | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
Inside
Jethro Tull | submitted by Zachary | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"The lyrics match with Seiya and Usagi's nervous date."
A New Day Yesterday
Jethro Tull | submitted by Zachary | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"This song is a little bit on Episode 173, where Darien leaves for America, and
when Seiya sees Serena, from her first glimpse of her, she knows she is the
perfect match for her."
Resist
Rush | submitted by Zachary | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"The song matches perfectly with the Episode 196, where Usagi is crying and wants
Darien back, when Seiya looks at her and says "Am I not good enough?", the song
matches perfectly well."
Dancing Queen
ABBA | submitted by Rose
"Well, I kinda think 'Dancing Queen' by Abba KINDA represents Seiya. I mean, don't
you think that if she was dancing they could probably play the song?"
Over The Hills and Far Away
Nightwish | submitted by Rose
"I really think the song 'Over The Hills and Far Away' by Nightwish really
describes Seiya, especially the chorus:
Over the hills and far away/
he swears he will return one day/
far from the mountains and the seas/
that in her arms is where he'll be.
It just fits him so perfectly,
like a last piece of a puzzle. The only part that may or may not happen to him would
be getting arrested. Maybe somebody would change that to like his feeling about
moving back to Kinmoku and leaving his heart's desire, his Odango, Usagi, behind.
Anyway, I could see either him singing it about himself, or Taiki or Yaten singing
it about him and Usagi."
