In the Name of the Holocaust I
John Cage | Submitted by Akaiko | Timeline and MP3
(from Akaiko's site) "This song was first created in memory of the Holocaust during WWII. The more I listen to it, the more I start to imagine what might of happened when Galaxia attacked the Star in which the Starlights and Princess Kakyuu were living on. Since there aren't any lyrics, I have put a timeline of events according to how many seconds have passed and what I can imagine going on at that time. Remember this is just what I imagine happened. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion."
Yellow
Coldplay | submitted by Megami | Lyrics
"This song talks about stars. The song just reminds me of the Three Lights singing to
Kakyuu whenever I hear it. It's my most favorite song for that reason . . . It's because
all the stuff this dude sings about doing *Bleeding himself dry* would be things
the Starlights would do for their Princess. Okay, that's why."
Outerspace
Evan and Jaron | submitted by koneko116 | Lyrics
"Well, it kind of goes along the same lines as 'Cosmic Castaway', but
somehow whenever I hear this song, the lyrics just click with the Sailor
Starlights more than I think 'Cosmic Castaway' would... Especially the lines,
'For all the girls who wish to be/ Immortilized in fantasy/ I wrote this song
for you and not for me...' Besides, I love the guys who sing it. ^_^;; "
Pop
N'Sync | submitted by Koneko-chan | Lyrics
No comment. ^^
The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys
Traffic | submitted by Aika Bunny | Lyrics
Other than the obvious . . . "The song itself is jazzy rock and somewhat Threelights-ish."
South Side
Moby | submitted by Aika Bunny | Lyrics
"Why? Because of the first and last verses. 'See the light come over now/ See myself in the pouring rain / I watch hope come over me.' It reminds me of when Seiya met Usagi at the airport. 'Here we are now going to the south side / I pick up my friends and we hope we won't die / Ride at night, ride through heaven and hell / Come back and feel so well.' I really just think it fits well."
In the End
Linkin Park | submitted by Aika Bunny | Lyrics
"Errm.... Well it just seems like a good fit!"
Homeward Bound
Paul Simon | submitted by AngelAnne | Lyrics
"Completely ignoring the irony in the title, I think
this is a good song for the Three Lights as a whole.
This part: 'Each town looks the same to me/the movies
and the factories/and every strangers face I
see/reminds me that I long to be...' reminds me of
their mission; they're hoping to find Kakyuu's face
among the many strangers they meet."
Wild Angels
Martina McBride | submitted by AngelAnne | Lyrics
"I think it's a perfect song for the Lights as a whole.
'We still break each other's hearts sometimes/spend
some nights on the jagged side/somehow we wake up in
each others arms' reminds me of the episode where
Taiki questions their mission and Seiya decks him one.
They argue from time to time, but they come back
together for the sake of their mission. And c'mon,
you've gotta admit: not only are they wild, but
they're angels, too."
Evolution
Ayumi Hamasaki | submitted by Aika Bunny | Lyrics (translated by Arnel Ilano)
"First off, what better to represent our favortie
idols that one of Japan's finest J-pop artists :p? It
reminds me of Seiya's crush on Usagi (I've arrived in
this kind of time but I met you). Aiming for a new
millenium, crying at the top of their lungs; that's
the Lights mission plan and objective in a nutshell."
Kiss From a Rose
Seal | submitted by Kakyuu Ouhi | Lyrics
"This song could be sung by either Taiki, Yaten, or Seiya. It reminds me of them because of the reference to roses, it seems to be one of their trademark symbols. For Taiki and Yaten, I see this song being sung to Kakyuu because to them she is their light in the darkness, which is basically what the entire song is alluding to along with the longing to always be with this person. For Seiya this song could be sung either to Kakyuu or Usagi. To Seiya both of these women could be considered his light to his darkness. Though, in my opinion, I can picture him more likely singing this about Kakyuu because she is the reason for his mission, the one he is looking for, the one that Usagi reminds him of."
The Longest Time
Billy Joel | submitted by AngelAnne | Lyrics
"I think this song has a little
something for all three of the Lights in it. For Seiya, it sounds
like a song he'd sing to Usagi - he'd lost a lot of hope while
looking for Kakyuu, but Usagi inspires him and gives him happiness
that he hasn't felt for a long time. For Taiki and Yaten, and for
Seiya too, it seems like a song that they would sing to Kakyuu, about
how she inspires them to keep hoping and how much they need her and
she needs them. Besides, it's all vocals, so no instruments to drown
out their harmonizing!"
I Dare You to Move
Switchfoot | submitted by Uindo Seirei | Lyrics
"This song makes me think of all of the Three Lights. The first couple lines--
'Welcome to the planet/ Welcome to existence/ Everyone's here/ Everyone's
watching you know/ Everybody waits for you know' -- fits the Lights'
situation on Earth perfectly."
Hero
Chad Kroeger (featuring Josey Scott) | submitted by Uindo Seirei | Lyrics
"This is for all of the Three Lights. I think the first part would be sung by
Taiki. About I'm so high/ I can hear heaven. Well, Taiki's tall. It works.
The second part about love killing everybody would be Yaten. And the third
part about sending love to someone, would be Seiya (singing to Usagi, of
course)."
You Raise Me Up
Josh Groban | submitted by Manda B. | Lyrics
"At first I was going to simply say 'this song reminds me of Seiya and
Usagi,' but now that I think about it, it reminds me of all three of the
starlights and Usagi. Usagi gives all three lights hope without even
realizing it at times, and towards the end of the series, they give her the
courage to face her final battle."
Mr. Moonlight
Morning Musume | submitted by Michi | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"I've watched the video and
listened to the song. Every time I have, the Three Lights always pop into my head. I
could just see them in the suits singing this song with the inner senshi dancing in
the backround and Haruka twitching off stage at Seiya. It fits. I love the song and
I've always been able to see the Three Lights singing this one."
Burn
Usher | submitted by Starchild | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"I think this song is perfect for the Three Lights, because, it is taking so long to
find their princess, and they are longing to see her."
Back to the Family
Jethro Tull | submitted by Zachary | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"Episode 173-Where we are introduced to the Three Lights and Yatsen asks the other
two about finding the Princess and they tell them not to worry, you can see her
face that she doesn't want the Princess dead and feels that she wants to be back
to the Princess family."
Shake the Disease
Hooverphonic | submitted by Sakura Tsukino | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"I just think in my opinion this would be a song the lights would sing to their
princess."
My Name's Women
Ayumi Hamasaki | submitted by Dani | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"This song just screams Sailor Starlights/Three Lights, it's such a powerful song for women. The (translated) lyrics 'Do you think you have controlled everything/With a knowing look?/We are not dolls/Who are only dreaming' makes me think something they would say to Galaxia. She may have destroyed more than half of the galaxy but they still kept going!"
Songs for Princess Kakyuu
Fireball
Deep Purple | submitted by Crystal Jiang | Lyrics
"Is that not SO Kakyuu?"
Unsung Hero
Tina Arena | submitted by AngelAnne | Lyrics
"It's the kind of song that Kakyuu would
write for the Starlights. She probably has feelings of doubt about
her abilities as a ruler, and the Lights are there to support her and
protect her from the shadows. She knows they don't do it for the
recognition they get, they do it out of love and devotion to her. It
seems like just the thing she would say when they are reunited (in
both the anime and manga)."
Only Hope
Mandy Moore | submitted by Uindo Seirei | Lyrics
"This is for Kakyuu. I could definitely picture her singing this to the
Starlights."
Here Without You
Three Doors Down | submitted by Michi | Lyrics (Offsite Link)
"I was listening to this
song recently and
Kakyuu's reaction to the Starlight's death poped into my head. It seriously sounds
like something she would sing or write to their death."
