*Yaten and Minako*
******************
Yaten gazed at his keyboard. Running his pale hands gingerly on the smooth, ivory keys. Their final concert was done with, leaving millions of their fans in lament, disappointment and sorrow. Nevertheless, he was content with it. Because he's had enough of little girls screaming at him. Because he's had enough cameras flashing at him. Because he's had enough with this celebrity business. Yet...he was in a state of melancholy. Is it possible to be so happy yet so sad at the same time? Focusing his green eyes back to the keyboard. He gently pushed a key, the small instrument let out a faint but succinct sound. A sound that echoed in the empty auditorium...on and on, bouncing off anything it can, desperately trying to grasp to life. It faded, then was gone completely. Just like all things sort of do. Yaten began to play a familiar song, he didn't know why, but his heart told him to. The melody filled the hollow place. The music came together, as if destined. He never understood music. Sure, he sings every day, but he didn't perceive it's power. He didn't comprehend its strength. He didn't understand how a cluster of sounds can reach so deep in the soul, freeing the love, the pain...but then he didn't need to. He didn't need to acquire all that knowledge. For he knows it is intangible, so abstract that only the heart can understand, only the soul can comprehend. The sweet sound from his music became wings, carrying him away, to a better place, to his princess perhaps...princess...the word almost made him wince, immediately, thoughts flooded in his troubled mind. Princess where are you? Why won't you show up? Why must you so cruel? Why won't you come and...
"That was beautiful." a soft voice whispered. Interrupting his thoughts.
His fingers stopped gliding on the keyboard. Yaten was lashed back to reality. It was her. No, not princess.
*HER* Her golden hair framed her oval face and azure eyes. Something was different about her though, she looked at peace, pacified. Not giggling or screeching like she normally would. She was...vibrantly, vividly beautiful.
"What are you doing here? It's over." Yaten pointed out, urging his eyes to not look at hers. The blue eyes that say so much, ...pain, happiness, tranquility, rage...
"Hai, I know." She replied faintly.
"Then why are you still here?" he asked, his voice aloof and dull. But somewhere below the thin veneer, he was engrossed by her.
"Because you are still here. And your music is still with you. Just because it's over...doesn't mean it's...over..." she conveyed, voice trembling but dulcet. Communicating with his soul. "You still shine." she articulated.
Yaten felt his heart quiver. His mind numb. His mouth paralyzed.
"Well, uh, I'm going now." She spoke, suddenly realizes the hollowness of the place. Turning around, her hair flowing, and bow bouncing as if it had its own life.
"Arigatou" He blurted. He didn't think it was him that said it...it came from the gut.
The blond pivoted back, facing the silver haired musician.
Eyes shinning, she could hear her own breathing. "Nani?" her heart pounded, increasing in each beat,
"Ari...arigatou..." Yaten asserted.
Her surprised face was swept with a soft smile instead. She bowed, holding onto her purse, hair cascading. "You are welcome." with another jaunty smile, she left.
Yaten blinked. Her smile forever imprinted in his heart. He smiled also. Feeling his own heart warm.

Arigatou means thank you. Nani means what. This isn't much of a love story is it? But I just wanted the two characters to be in touch...well, I don't know what I was trying to do. Oh, and the bow thing, Japanese often bow to show respect and just to be polite. Says daddy and he's been in Japan for a while. So no argue with me! email me! silent_rain@chickmail.com
