Chapter 14: A Deadly Decision! Sacrifice For the Good of the World! Crystal Tokyo was in panic. But there was one who was calm. She saw the comet coming alright; she was at the observatory when it happened. But it was not her natural personality to be emotional about this. The dictator who was trying to control the comet would fall soon. She knew. Tyrants always fell. This person was greeted by a panicky Seiya. “Taiki-chan! You have to come stop this! I bet you can do it!” she begged the astronomer. “You’re right. The tyrant must fall,” Taiki said, following Seiya out to the palace. “Taiki-chan! Seiya-chan! This is a real problem! My computer says that the two crystals can’t be separated!” Ami exclaimed. “Then we’ll have to destroy it,” Taiki said bluntly. “No!! You can’t! If the Silver Crystal is destroyed, then Usagi-chan will die!” Rei cried. “Which is it? Usagi-san, or the world? If we make the Eternity Prism explode, then we might be able to direct the energy of the explosion to stop the comet from hitting the Earth,” Taiki explained, Chibi Healer and Sailor Aurora coming up beside her. “We could use our telekinesis to divert the explosion,” Chibi Healer suggested. “No, you can’t! YOU CAN’T KILL THE QUEEN!!!” Rei shrieked, grabbing Chibi Healer. “Let my cousin go. It’s for the good of the world, Rei,” a cold voice said. Rei looked up to see Chibi Maker and Sailor Nebula standing over her. “But a world without her...is not worth living!” protested Makoto. “Everyone dies someday. Star Primordal Ooze!” Chibi Maker shouted, throwing her slime at the four Inner Senshi. But Taiki stepped in front of the attack. “They have a right to their opinions. But we do too,” she said. Soon, Star Maker, Chibi Mercury, Sailor Soul, Sailor Antares, Sailor Nova, Sailor Aphrodite, Chibi Venus, Chibi Neptune, Sailor Death, Chibi Aurora, Chibi Healer, Sailor Nebula, Chibi Maker, Sailor Spring, Sailor Summer, Sailor Autumn, Sailor Aurora, and Star Fighter were all gathered around the front of the palace, facing Sailor Life. “Everyone! Stop the tyrant, for Mama!” Chibi Maker ordered. “Maker Star Power!” “Mercury Prism Power!” “Soul Celestial Power!” “Antares Star Power!” “Nova Cosmic Power!” “Aphrodite Eternal Power!” “Venus Prism Power!” “Neptune Prism Power!” “Death Celestial Power!” “Aurora Prism Power!” “Nebula Cosmic Power!” “Maker Prism Power!” “Spring Seasonal Power!” “Summer Seasonal Power!” “Autumn Seasonal Power!” “Fighter Star Power!” Foreheads glowing with Senshi symbols, the 16 Sailor Senshi threw their energy into the Eternity Prism. As it began to explode, Sailor Aurora and Chibi Healer, using their telekinetic powers, directed the exploding energy so that it hit the comet that was going to crash into the Earth. The comet exploded, saving the Earth. In the distance, apart from the other Senshi, Yaten watched the scene. “Grandma! Hang on!” Kodachi pleaded. “There’s nothing we can do, Oneesan. She’s dead now. Now Mama’s the Queen, I think,” Natsumi said. Taiki, untransformed and tired, picked herself out of the explosion site. Suddenly she was hit by a flying rock. “How dare you! You cold-hearted beast girl!!” Minako screamed. “Yeah, you deserve to die too!” shouted Rei, pointing an anti-evil scroll at Taiki. “You killed our best friend,” Ami snarled. “What was the point?! Usagi-chan didn’t do anything wrong!” Makoto accused. Like a lightning bolt, Utsukushii was protecting Taiki. “Enough, you four. Would you really have wanted to have everyone in the world die? And what’s the point of killing Taiki?” she challenged. Ami, Makoto, Rei, and Minako were silent. “Yes. I can see it now. Taiki was right all along. You see, maybe it wasn’t right for the Silver Crystal to be so powerful like that. Maybe it wasn’t right for Crystal Tokyo to be a monarchy. Sure, things have been mostly peaceful. But remember the Black Moon’s attack. Remember the events beforehand. They were a group of rebels who wanted to have their own society, and the Queen banished them to Nemesis. Maybe if she had let them have their own society, they wouldn’t have attacked and killed my Princess. And also, the Queen and everyone else would’ve died anyway. As you said, Ami, the Chaos Crystal and Silver Crystal were completely fused together. There was no way of separating them. Either way, the Queen would have died when the comet hit Earth, along with everyone else,” Yaten said, stepping to her daughter’s side. “Small Lady, what do you think?” Minako asked. “Call me Queen Usagi now,” said the pink-haired woman, as King Endymion set her mother’s crown on her head. “I think that Yaten is right. While it is tragic that my mother is dead now, everyone dies sometime. And we can live without the Silver Crystal. We all still have our Senshi powers to protect from any other enemies. And I’ve learned a few things, too, from Taiki. I will try to make Crystal Tokyo a more democratic place. Maybe a monarchy, with one person having absolute power, is a bad thing. Maybe it’s time I gave some of my royal power to the people, so that an incident like the one with the Black Moon clan doesn’t happen again. And most importantly, so everyone can be strong. That is the promise of Queen Usagi. And I swear this, not on the Silver Crystal, but on the cold strength of Taiki, who taught me that the common people are important, and that we are all, essentially, equals.”
