Chapter 2: Be a Proper Dark Senshi? Kaori’s Jealousy! “So now what do we do now that we’ve gotten our Senshi powers? Practice them on helpless animals and small children?” Kaori asked, half-joking. “No! Get dressed in your best clothes, because we’re going to the ball at the palace tonight, remember?” Minako reminded her daughters. Kaori seemed to be thinking about something, and in fact, she was. After a waiting period for Minako and Chibi, she finally asked “What other Senshi are there? Is there a Sailor Death, or someone with similar dark powers?” Minako, who had been responsible for once, pulled out the list the Queen had given her during their meeting earlier of all the new Senshi and who they were. “Well, it says here that a Natsumi Tomoe-san, Hotaru-chan’s younger daughter, is Sailor Death, and I guess that Sailor Chibi Saturn, who is Shizuko Tomoe-san, could also be considered to have dark powers, if her’s are anything like her mother’s. That’s all I know, though, as I haven’t kept in touch with Hotaru-chan much in Crystal Tokyo here. All I know is their names, which Senshi they are, and that Shizuko-san is 15 years old and Natsumi-san is only 13. I don’t know what their personalities are like or even what they look like. I’m surprised you haven’t seen Shizuko-san in class, though, don’t you go to the same school?” Minako asked, surprised. “I don’t pay attention to what my classmates names are; they’re all overly ditzy to me. I do like Princess Himeko-sama, though, she’s good and serious,” Kaori said. Minako smiled and patted Kaori’s curly blond head, to which the latter flinched away from. “I’m sure you’ll find her and Hotaru-chan’s daughters at the ball. Now go get dressed,” she said, nudging Kaori towards her bedroom. “Wow! A ball! Lots of new Senshi friends!” squealed Shizuko, grabbing Hotaru in her excitement. “Yeah, and ones we can play with!” added Natsumi. The two girls and their parents had arrived at the Crystal Palace Ball, eager to make friends with the new Senshi. Kaori and Chibi were there too, of course, with Minako Aino and George Smith, their parents. Kaori immediately went on a search for this mysterious Sailor Death and her sister, Sailor Chibi Saturn. Suddenly, she saw her target. The girl was about 4’ 6”, a foot taller than Kaori was herself. She had her long black hair in pigtails that resembled the style of their Queen’s hair, and she was wearing a purple dress. But the thing that clinched it was her eyes. They were completely white, with no pupils or irises. Perfectly, wonderfully spooky. Kaori snuck up on the girl from behind, and said, in a mysterious voice, “I am your dark companion, Sailor Death.” The girl whirled around and giggled, which shocked Kaori speechless. “Hi! I am Natsumi Tomoe! I’m Sailor Death, which Senshi are you?” asked the girl. Kaori still was still too shocked to speak. “Can’t you talk? You look surprised at something; don’t be afraid of this. It’s just my transformation jewel. Do you want to touch it?” asked Natsumi cheerfully, holding her black orb pendant out to Kaori, who was figuratively frozen. Natsumi furrowed her brow, staring intently at the blond. Then she got it. “I know! You’re playing some kind of game! Can I play too? How do I play?” she asked eagerly. “Y-y-you...you...Sailor Death! You are too happy! You should be morbid!” Kaori finally shouted. “Morbid? Aw, that’s no fun,” said Natsumi. “It’s not SUPPOSED to be fun! You’re supposed to be serious and always being mysterious and talking about death!” Kaori screamed. She jumped up, tried to shake Natsumi’s shoulders, and then knocked her down. “So, are you the enemy that I heard we Senshi have to face? I never found out who you are, anyway,” Natsumi asked, still using that obnoxiously cheerful voice of hers. “I am Kaori Aino. My Senshi form, sadly, is Sailor Chibi Venus. Would you switch with me?” Natsumi looked a bit suprised at Kaori’s request, but she agreed, and took the orange brooch in her hands. “Now, I’ll show you what Sailor Death is supposed to be like! Death...um...what’s the transformation phrase?” Kaori asked. “Mine’s Death Celestial Power, Make Up. What’s yours?” Natsumi replied. “Mine is...I remember the words I heard in my mind when I put the brooch on. They were Venus Prism Power, Make Up,” answered Kaori. The two girls shouted the transformation words, but nothing happened. Kaori looked up to see Minako smiling at her. “Sorry, Kaori-chan. You can’t use someone else’s Senshi powers. You’re stuck with being Chibi Venus, I’m afraid,” she told her daughter. “Come on then, Natsumi-chan. I’ll teach you how to be Sailor Death,” Kaori said in an evil voice, letting Natsumi follow her. Minako watched them go into the crowd, then she turned to Chibi, who had been watching the scene with confusion. “Chibi-chan. Go make sure your sister doesn’t hurt that girl,” she said. “Okay, Mama. She can be dangerous,” Chibi agreed. “So how do I learn to be a real Sailor Death?” asked Natsumi. She, Kaori, and Chibi were in a secluded garden in the palace, the dark night being a good place for the lesson. “First, lose the cheerful act. The only sort of smile you should do should be an evil one,” Kaori instructed. Natsumi bared her teeth like a dog, looked at her reflection in a fountain, and fell over laughing. Kaori shook her head. “Do you have some sort of psychological problem that prevents you from being serious or something?” she asked. “None that I know of. Why do you want to teach me how to change my personality? I like myself the way I am,” Natsumi said. “Because! People with dark powers are supposed to ACT dark!” Kaori shouted. “But what about you? You said that your powers are like Venus’s, right? Well, according to your own logic, you should try to act like Minako-san, your mother,” Natsumi pointed out. Kaori was about to yell back, but then she slumped over, sitting on the edge of the fountain. Natsumi was right. Her plan was defeated. “You have just became my enemy, Natsumi-chan,” Kaori growled softly. “I’m your...OOF!” Natsumi was cut off as Chibi knocked her down, protecting her from the strange girl who had just entered the garden area. She had long orange hair and was wearing a golden bodysuit. “Who are you!” Natsumi demanded. “I am Tiffany! And I will whip you for taking the power of the Senshi of MY dimension!” shouted the girl, and she swung her whip at Natsumi, who jumped aside. “Death Celestial Power, Make Up!” “Venus Prism Power, Make Up!” “Aphrodite Eternal Power, Make Up!” The three Senshi transformed, ready for battle. Tiffany shot a rope out, and quickly tied up Chibi Venus and Sailor Aphrodite. Sailor Death, however, had jumped out of the way, and was in the fountain. She then started goofing around, making faces at Tiffany, who started laughing. As the villainess was distracted, Chibi Saturn came into the area as well. “Let’s team up, Shizuko-oneechan! Deadly Dark Beams!” “Death Reborn Revolution!” The energy beams and purple ribbons shot at Tiffany, and knocked her down. Vanishing in golden sparkles, she shouted “I’ll be back later!” “Oh well. Let’s untie these two,” said Chibi Saturn, and she and Sailor Death untied the two Aino sisters. Despite this, Kaori still was mad at Natsumi, for no other reason than for having powers that she wanted for herself.
