Chapter 13: The Legend of Sailor Aurora! A Question of Senshi Origins! “Taiki-chan? Where is she?” Rei asked. Taiki was nowhere to be found in the temple. Seiya noticed there was a note on Taiki’s bed. “I went to the Tsukino house. They’re solving the mystery of the new Senshi,” the note read. “She went to Usagi’s house?! She should be in bed!” Rei exclaimed. “That’s my Taiki-chan. She doesn’t like to stay down, even when she’s sick. She’s super-stoic,” said Seiya proudly. Indeed, Taiki had gone to the Tsukino house. When Usagi let her in, though, Mamoru and Kenji were shocked. “Usagi, you...are you cheating on me?” Mamoru choked out, surprised. “Who’s that giant man?” Kenji exclaimed. Usagi merely started giggling, then she said “No, this is Taiki-chan. She’s a girl, actually, she’s only 12. She just looks like a man, but she’s not one. Don’t worry. She’s only here to help us figure out what the deal is with the new Senshi.” Kenji and Mamoru both looked relieved. “Is she a new Senshi too, like Shingo-kun, Osaka-san and Tsukino-san and this other girl whose name I forget?” Mamoru asked. Now it was Usagi’s turn to be shocked. “Mamoru! I can’t believe you forgot about the Starlights! She’s one of them! We know where her powers come from! And the new girl is Pikachu Miller. She’s actually been here about from the time you got your powers first; she’s from America,” said Usagi. “I’m also Sailor Aurora,” added Pikachu. “Usagi-chan, why don’t you let this Taiki-san kid in too? It’s impolite to let your guest stand in the doorway,” Ikuko suggested. Finally Usagi, Mamoru, Ikuko, Naru, Taiki, Shingo, and Pikachu were all seated around the Tsukinos’ living-room. “I don’t get it, Usagi-chan. You told us all about the Silver Millennium and the Moon Kingdom, but you say there was no Sailor Sun, Sailor Earth, Sailor Eclipse, or Sailor Aurora?” asked Ikuko. “Yeah, Oneechan, what about us? If the Senshi come from the Moon Kingdom, then where and how did we get our powers?” Shingo added. Poor Usagi was at a loss for words. Luna and Artemis didn’t have the answers either. “There is a record for a Sailor Aurora in the legends from my planet, though,” Taiki said in her typically barely audible voice, saving Usagi. “Really? Tell us about it!” exclaimed Usagi. “Though the people of the Moon Kingdom didn’t know that Kinmoku even existed, there was a Senshi in Kinmoku’s past who admired the Moon Kingdom Senshi so much that she even wore a Sailor outfit like theirs. That was Sailor Aurora, Senshi of the Rainbow. For this reason, her reincarnation was sent to Earth,” Taiki explained, then she calmly took a nearby trash can and threw up into it, still nauseated and a bit dizzy from her disease. “Wow. Well, that still doesn’t explain where my powers come from, though...what’s wrong with her?” said Shingo, a bit worried about Taiki’s health. “She’s got a weird disease that was caused by the enemy, I hear. Let’s keep trying to find clues from them. They mentioned someone named Mystina, I hear, so she may have the answer,” said Naru wisely. “About our enemies. Why are they so easy to defeat? It seems to only take about two hits and they disintegrate! Something is very wrong here,” pointed out Usagi, being smart for once. “You mean they weren’t that easy before?” Ikuko asked. “No, they used to be very hard to defeat...right, Taiki-chan?” Usagi said. “Ikuko-san’s question has no answer. Most of the lesser enemies, like Iron Mouse and Aluminum Siren, were killed by their superiors,” Taiki added. Ikuko looked a bit shocked at something. “Usagi-chan, your friend is helpful, but she’s a bit rude. She called me by my first name,” she whispered to Usagi. Taiki’s sharp ears heard that, and she said “It would be confusing for me to call all five members of your family ‘Tsukino-san.’” “Well, okay. You are certainly a helpful child, though, Taiki- san,” Ikuko complemented her. “Yeah, I never knew that about my Senshi past either!” added Pikachu. Taiki blushed and mumbled something that sounded like “Power must not corrupt me.” “What was that about power? Why do you think that YOU of all people would be corrupted?” Usagi asked, confused. Taiki blushed even further and said “My abilities are unfair and could corrupt me. Thus, I help people.” Just then, Chibi-Usa bounded into the house, home from school. “Oh, hello! Everyone, this is Usagi-chan’s cousin, Chibi-Usa-chan!” Ikuko announced to Taiki and Pikachu. “I know Chibi-Usa-san. She’s Usagi-san’s daughter,” said Taiki. Usagi and everyone else was stunned. “What?! TAIKI-CHAN!!!! For you, of all people, to reveal the secret!” Usagi shouted, angry at the innocent alien child. “Is this true, Usagi-chan? Oh my, when did you have her?” Ikuko asked. “Actually, she traveled here from the future so she could train here as a Sailor Senshi. I haven’t given birth to her yet,” Usagi explained, blushing herself now. “Oh, so I’m a grandma in the future?” Ikuko commented. “Wait, so I’m this girl’s uncle?!” Shingo exclaimed. “I thought of something about the new Senshi,” Taiki said, changing the subject a bit. “What, Taiki-oneechan?” Chibi-Usa asked. “Remember Chibi Chibi-san? She turned out to be Galaxia’s Star Seed. Maybe Sailors Earth, Sun, and Eclipse are Star Seeds of the other Animates,” Taiki suggested. Ikuko, Naru, and Shingo were confused. “What’s a Star Seed?” Naru asked. “Um, Taiki-chan? That doesn’t work. I know for SURE that my family members and Naru-chan aren’t Star Seeds. But that would’ve been a good guess had they just shown up by accident, like Chibi Chibi-chan did,” corrected Usagi. “Then we still haven’t figured anything out,” Naru sighed. “Taiki-chan, why don’t you go back to your house now. I’m sure your sisters and Princess are waiting for you,” Shingo said kindly. “Seiya-san is, but she and I are at Hino-san’s temple. Fireball-san threw us out of the house because she says I use the wrong honorifics for people,” Taiki explained, and she left the house. Shingo watched her go, thinking.
