Beautiful
Stranger
A Seiya/Usagi alternate reality fanfiction
Brought to you by Moonchild Abigail

“Beautiful Stranger” – I’ve always thought that song would make a really cool
Seiya/Usagi music video, but since I don’t have the software to make music
videos, a fanfic will have to do. I wanted to write a Seiya and Usagi story,
and I came up with this idea for an alternate-reality-type romance. There are
no Sailor Senshi (although Sailor V may make an appearance in the future), and
Seiya, Taiki, and Yaten are normal girls living on Earth. Yep, they’re girls,
so if you’re afraid of shoujo-ai, I wouldn’t read this.
This is a new project I’ve started, so I’d be really interested in hearing what
you think.

Part 1
“Seiyaaaaaa!!!!!”
I heard the voice calling behind me as my feet pounded the pavement. People and
shop windows sped past in a blur as I ran, breath racing, hair flying.
“Seiyaaa!! Wait up!!!” Yaten’s voice was becoming more distant as the two of
them fell farther behind. I slowed my pace some to accommodate them, but not
enough to let them catch up. I wasn’t at all in a hurry to get home – I would
rather have lingered in town longer – but today I just wanted to run. To run
and feel the wind take my hair and do what it liked with it. Like this, I only
needed to worry about the future as far ahead as my next step.
Plus it really annoyed the heck out of Taiki and Yaten.
“Seiya, that’s not funny!!! Slow down!!” I could tell Yaten was trying to catch
her breath. “Hey, Taiki agrees with me here!”
I laughed and gave in, slowing down, grabbing a lamppost to stop myself.
“Geez, Seiya, where’s the fire?” Taiki asked when she caught up to me and
stopped.
“Gomen.” I grinned.
“As we’ve been late every day this week, I don’t think one more day will make a
difference. Besides, we can’t keep up with you.”
“Gomen,” I said again, leaning against the lamppost and wrapping my arms around
it. Yaten had given up running and finally reached the spot where Taiki and I
stood. Her long silver hair had become tangled and windblown. But then she
wouldn’t have that problem if she’d do something practical with it like my
ponytail or Taiki’s long brunette braid. She bent over, resting her hands on
her knees, still trying to catch her breath.
“What’s the matter, Yaten-chan?” I shamelessly teased her. “I thought you’d
enjoy a little exercise.” Her green eyes glared darkly at me. Yaten hated
sweat, and anything that involved physical exertion. I laughed, “You should
have stopped and walked home instead of trying to keep up with me.”
“I don’t think either of us wanted to face the wrath of Hanaka-san alone,”
Taiki put in.
“Aw… you guys are afraid of her,” I mocked.
“No,” Yaten grinned back at me, “but I still think its funny when I remember
the time she chased you around the house with a wooden spoon.”
“Hey!” I snapped back. “But at least I won in the end.”
“Climbing a tree and refusing to come down for a day?” Taiki giggled. I had to
laugh, too. I admit, I had been quite a handful as a child. What was I talking
about, I still was. But it was just too much fun to make Hanaka-san angry.
“What do you think she’d say if we didn’t show up until midnight tonight?” I asked
the others.
Taiki cocked an eyebrow. “I wouldn’t try it, Seiya. Besides, I was planning on
finishing my book tonight.”
“And I’m too hungry,” Yaten said as they both started walking again.
“In that case,” I said, pushing away from the lamppost, “I’ll race you two
home!” With that I dashed past them and across the intersection. I never saw
the car, only heard the screech of brakes as the vehicle slammed into me…
